Care Packages for Families Navigating Maternal Alloimmunization & HDFN
At the Maternal Alloimmunization Foundation, we know that families facing maternal alloimmunization and HDFN carry a unique kind of weight. The constant monitoring, the fear of the unknown, the NICU days, the weekly blood draws after birth, the transfusions, and the outcomes that don’t always go the way they should.
From Louise, with Love is our way of wrapping our families in comfort and care. Inspired by one very loved baby girl and created with families in mind, our care packages are small reminders that you are seen, supported, and not alone in this.
We See You
Whether you’ve just been diagnosed, are trying to conceive, navigating a sensitized pregnancy, recovering from delivery, sitting beside your baby in the NICU, or home counting down the weeks until the last blood draw, we see you.
We offer care packages filled with thoughtful, comforting items to support you through it all. Each box is packed by hand and meant to bring a moment of peace in the middle of a hard chapter.
Standard Care Packages May Include
- A cozy item for mom or baby
- Journaling tools or a guided notebook
- Practical comfort items for hospital or NICU stays
- Notes of encouragement from other families in our community
- Resources and support materials
Grief Care Packages
For families navigating loss, we offer specially designed grief packages to honor your baby and your journey. We know there’s no way to ease that pain, but we hope this small package reminds you that your baby matters and you are not grieving alone.
Grief packages may include:
- A remembrance keepsake
- Items to support emotional healing
- Space for honoring your baby’s name and story
- Gentle words and shared hope from other loss families
How to Request a Care Package
We offer these care packages at no cost to families, made possible through the generosity of our sponsor, Johnson & Johnson. You can request one for yourself or nominate a loved one who could use a little extra care.
Please note: While we try to fulfill every request, availability may vary depending on funding and supplies.
About Louise
In 2017, Mandy’s family lost their second daughter, Louise, to HDFN. Despite careful monitoring and expert prenatal care, including three intrauterine transfusions (IUTs), Louise passed away at seven weeks old due to severe anemia. She had needed ongoing monitoring, weekly blood draws, and additional transfusions.
Her story fuels our mission. We are committed to making sure families have the information, support, and care they need, both before and after birth.
We’ve named our care package program in her honor, and we hope her love, light, and legacy continue to reach families who need it most.
